Andy Carroll rethink?
He lasted most of the match at Old Trafford, made some useful touches, and ran rather more than I thought he could. He also showed how intimidating he can be near goal when the ball is in the air.
However for me it's still not enough to merit a starting place in the team. I don't know how good Emenike will turn out to be, but assuming he gains in confidence and hits a bit of form, I would think that Sakho and Emenike are more the kind of dynamic players to suit our talented and very mobile midfield.

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
Far too early to tell if Emenike has what it takes to be a player in the PL, I like Carroll, he is a good player. If we can keep him fit then he is an asset to the team. I also think we would struggle to find anyone to take him unless the terms were quite poor.

Eminike, over a fit AC? Not in a million years.

Emenike has not got injured yet, that's unusual for us.

Carroll over Emenike by far at the moment. Carroll won't be fit for much longer though. I haven't been impressed by Emenike so far but it is early days.

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
AC has been at his best this season as an impact sub from the bench.... give him a decent length of time, 25-30 mins, and he will terrorise tiring defences.

Def sell him in the summer even when fit doesn't score enough

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
Keep. Wouldn't generate much money if sold and when / if he gets fully fit, it might as well be us who benefits.

Still young as well.

Just pray he can get over these injuries long term.

I don't think we'll see too much of the 2 up front we had at the weekend

Sakho and Carroll will fill the lone striker role and both do it better than Emineke

Garth

He's 27, he isn't young. Should be in the prime of his career as a senior player in the squad.

Hoping to be proved wrong over the next couple of weeks but I think Emineke is utter shit. With Sakho and Carroll now fit we should bench the cunt and bring him on if we need to change tactics or in cases of fatigue.

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
When everyone is fit there is no place for either AC or Emenike.

Front three of Lanz, Payet and Sakho.

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
Carroll is coming good again. He just needs to stay injury free. Him and Sakho up top together would be the way forward.

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
I think Carroll needs to be told that he will be used as an impact sub.

He won't be happy with that but that is his best role for us. Even more so next season when I presume we will be looking to sign a "20 goal a season striker".

Which is easier said than done.

Carroll said something this morning about how he doesn't want to be coming off the bench and that he wants to start, but he just doesn't have the same impact..

Be interesting to see what he does next season if we do sign a great striker.

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
Carroll has been fantastic every time he has played recently. Looks ahead of opposition players even when its his first match back post-calf/knee/hip/anything injury.

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
I might add that Emineke still looks unfit but seems to be getting fitter every game.

A real handful of a player that seems to read the game well.......The Dury is out though on his finishing.

But I believe he does need ls a few more games to see what he can offer.

And what do the Blockheads make of his finishing?

Re: Andy Carroll rethink?
Surely we have to start with either Sakho or Carroll over Emineke? Emineke missed some early sitters on Sunday that I feel either of the other two would have put away.
